Upon completion the installation program will restart Windows Explorer, which will then loadTimeTravelerTM. The first time it is loaded on a machine, TimeTravelerTM
contacts the activation server at Bears on the Loose and requests a trial
product key. An active internet connection is required for this to
succeed. If the operation completes successfully, TimeTravelerTM becomes
fully functional for 10 days. See figure 1.
Figure 1: TimeTraveler loaded in Windows Explorer after installation
Anytime during the trial period you can activate TimeTravelerTM. First,
open the configuration form by pressing the tool button on the right
hand side of TimeTravelerTM and then select the General tab. See figure 2.
Notice that TimeTravelerTM is activated only until a fixed date and time. Second,
press the activation button to
bring up the activation form. See figure 3. The form contains
a link to the Bears on the Loose store where you can purchase
your license. Once your payment is confirmed you will receive an email
containing your product key. Enter your email address and product key
in the form and then press the Activate button. Your TimeTravelerTM will
be activated. Remember, you need an active internet connection to
perform this operation. Upon activation the time limit will disappear.
See figure 4.

If TimeTravelerTM is not activated prior to
the end of the trial period, it will become deactivated and all the features will
be disabled. See picture 5. At this point, the only operation
available is activation through the timeline title link.
When pressed, it brings up the activation form.

If you get the
message "Activation server is not reachable." Make sure your internet is available and functioning properly.
Check
that your internet connection works. Can you access Google from your
web browser?
Are you using a firewall or an anti-virus software that blocks outbound
connections? Make sure it let the program TimeInformationService make an
outbound connection on port 8083. For example, McAfee anti-virus would
ask you if you want to let the program open the connection. See figure
7.
Are you using a router that blocks outbound connections? Ask your system
administrator to open port 8083 on outbound connections.
If none of this worked, please send us the file TimeInformationService.log
located in the installation directory and we
will troubleshoot the issue. Our email address is support@bearsontheloose.com.
